PROJECTS AND CLIENTS

We proudly work with organisations from across the globe and in all sectors. In all engagements, we look for opportunities to engage with the underlying story, understand how economic analysis can complement the picture, and develop robust analytical outputs to accelerate progress towards organisational objectives.

BURDEN OF FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION

WHO HQ

In collaboration with the WHO Department of Health and Reproductive Research, we developed a financial model to estimate the burden of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) on health system budgets in 27 high burden countries. We modelled the evolution of prevalent cohorts of FGM over time, and estimated health care resource utilisation based on a systematic review and meta-analysis of epidemiological studies of transient and permanent sequelae of FGM.

The financial model was complemented with a web interface (https://srhr.org/fgmcost/). The model and web interface was coded in the statistical package R. The products were launched in association with the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, and are actively used to advocate for the abandonment of FGM.

RETURN ON INVESTMENT OF NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASE INTERVENTIONS

UN INTERAGENCY TASK FORCE ON NCD'S

In this multi-year engagement, we are providing high level methodological guidance and quality assurance to the UN Interagency Task Force (UNIATF) on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD's), for the production of country level strategic evidence on the benefit of population level interventions against NCD’s. The engagement includes co-development of the underlying methodology, extension of the scope of case studies to include e.g. taxation of sugar-sweetened beverages, and in-country launches and advocacy. The results are continuously used to advocate for country level financing of health services and preventive interventions for NCD’s.

COSTING OF GLOBAL VIRAL HEPATITIS ELIMINATION

WHO GLOBAL HEALTH SECTOR STRATEGY

With recent advances in direct acting antiviral therapy, progress towards elimination of viral hepatitis B and C is increasingly a reality. In this work, we collaborated with the WHO Global Hepatitis Programme to develop a costing model for HBV and HCV elimination in 67 low- and middle-income countries, based on currently available diagnostics, treatments and WHO management guidelines. The model was a compartmental analysis of national population cohorts, using best available evidence on natural history and treatment parameters. The results were published in The Lancet Global Health.

PRICE, AVAILABILITY AND AFFORDABILITY OF MEDICINES IN BANGLADESH

WORLD BANK

Bangladesh has a vibrant domestic market for pharmaceutical production, however little up-to-date evidence is available on access to medicines in the country. In this work, we collaborated with the World Bank and icddr,b to analyse the results of a WHO/Health Action International pharmaceutical price, availability and affordability survey, drawing out key points on access to medicines and the pharmaceutical market in Bangladesh. The analysis was published in BMC Health Services Research.

EVALUATION OF PROCUREMENT EFFICIENCY IN UKRAINE

CROWN AGENTS

Crown Agents, a not-for-profit business operating in the supply-chain space, commissioned Triangulate Health Ltd to undertake an assessment of their procurement programme in Ukraine. Using data on product quality, international price comparisons on finished products and active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), as well as results of the procurement programme, we analysed the trend in prices over time, demonstrating a positive impact of the programme which was not explained by changes in product quality or prices of API. The report is available on the Crown Agents website.
